This circuit was an absolute blast to craft! While the base design is clear, I had so much fun tweaking details to make it truly special. Don’t let its appearance fool you—La Ratita is a hard-clipping distortion pedal with plenty of surprises.
It features two switches for sonic versatility. The filter switch subtly alters the tonal shape, and its effectiveness largely depends on your setup, including your pickups and amp configuration. The second switch offers three distinct modes: all the way down delivers a contained silicon distortion in a hard-clipping configuration; the middle position unleashes harsh op-amp clipping; and the upward position introduces LEDs in hard-clipping, delivering a more dynamic tonal character.
The pedal’s range—whether tame or aggressive—is entirely in your hands. Your gear, touch, and creativity determine how it sings.
Every unit of La Ratita is hand-wired and hand-soldered with care and precision. This attention to detail ensures a pedal that not only sounds fantastic but also feels like a unique piece of craftsmanship. Whether you’re after classic distortion or something a bit more unruly, La Ratita is ready to inspire your playing.
I create my pedals manually.
Firstly, I design most of the PCBs and carefully select the parts required for the pedal. Next, I solder the parts by hand and manually wire them. I also design the faceplate art and get it placed into each enclosure myself.
Finally, I clear coat the pedals and hand them to my wife who packages them, and we do all of this work in our living room located in Dallas, Texas.
That’s why every pedal is different.
Every pedal is special.
This is mainly a one-person operation, although my amazing wife helps with packaging and provides me with all the motivation necessary for Spicy Pedals to exist.
Although I make small batches, I don’t keep much inventory because this is a micro-operation. However, we do accept backorders for most of my pedals, but please note that it may take up to two weeks to fulfill your backorder.
In case you opt to backorder a pedal, I will send you an email to inform you about the estimated time required to create your pedal.
I offer a 5-year warranty to the original buyer. If the pedal is not working or it is not doing what it is supposed to do, send me an email, and we’ll figure out what’s up. Please email me before returning anything. You can reach me at [email protected].
Thank you very much for visiting my website. All of this has been made out of love for music and stompboxes.
