Big Ancho Fuzz

The Big Ancho Fuzz revives the classic ’60s and ’70s Fuzz sounds.

The Fuzz circuits from the ’60s and ’70s are widely known for their iconic status. I wanted to recreate that same sound with the Big Ancho Fuzz. This circuit takes inspiration from the introduction of silicon Fuzz circuits in the ’70s. The Big Ancho Fuzz is powered by two classic op-amps, specifically the JRC4558D IC chip, which is also used in the Jalapeño Screamer and the Texas Scorpion, as well as the Texas Instruments UA471CP. To create the fuzzy magic, six 1N4148 silicon diodes are configured in symmetrical clipping.

When I select a circuit to construct, I ensure that it works well in combination with other pedals. For instance, you can pair the Big Ancho Fuzz with a Texas Scorpion to enhance the intensity of your riffs, or use a Jalapeño Screamer to boost the midrange and blend their tones to create dynamic solos.

It’s designed, hand-assembled, and hand-wired in a small Dallas apartment.

Check out this video by the Pedal Couple featuring the Big Ancho Fuzz. The circuit is inspired by the introduction of silicon fuzz circuits in the 1970s, utilizing classic op-amps and silicon diodes for an authentic sound.

Stuff You Need to Know

I create my pedals manually.

Firstly, I design most of the PCBs and carefully select the parts required for the pedal. Next, I solder the parts by hand and manually wire them. I also design the faceplate art and get it placed into each enclosure myself.

Finally, I clear coat the pedals and hand them to my wife who packages them, and we do all of this work in our living room located in Dallas, Texas.

That’s why every pedal is different.
Every pedal is special.

This is mainly a one-person operation, although my amazing wife helps with packaging and provides me with all the motivation necessary for Spicy Pedals to exist.

Although I make small batches, I don’t keep much inventory because this is a micro-operation. However, we do accept backorders for most of my pedals, but please note that it may take up to two weeks to fulfill your backorder.

In case you opt to backorder a pedal, I will send you an email to inform you about the estimated time required to create your pedal.

I offer a 5-year warranty to the original buyer. If the pedal is not working or it is not doing what it is supposed to do, send me an email, and we’ll figure out what’s up.  Please email me before returning anything.  You can reach me at [email protected].

Thank you very much for visiting my website. All of this has been made out of love for music and stompboxes.
