What’s This Thing?

The Tinning Rack is a handy little tool for tinning stranded 22 AWG wires. It’s got eight 1/2-inch slots to hold your wires in place while you apply solder, making the whole process way easier and less messy.

If you build guitar pedals, work with electronics, or just want a better way to tin wires, this tool is super useful. Plus, it’s free to download and 3D print!

3D Printing Instructions

Recommended Settings

  • Material: PLA or PETG (PETG is better if you want heat resistance, but ABS also works great)
  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm
  • Infill: 20%-30%
  • Wall Thickness: 2 walls (0.8 mm if using a 0.4 mm nozzle)
  • Supports: None needed
  • Bed Adhesion: Skirt or brim (if needed)

Printing Time & Size

  • Approximate Print Time: ~1 hour on a MakerBot Replicator X2 using ABS
  • Dimensions: 80mm x 16mm x 10.3mm

How to Use It

  1. Stick your stranded 22 AWG wires into the slots.
  2. Make sure they’re spaced out evenly.
  3. Apply flux and solder to the exposed ends.
  4. Let them cool, then pop them out.
  5. Done! Perfectly tinned wires, hassle-free.
